Lindsay Lohan adds to troubles with morgue mishap
Lindsay Lohan adds to troubles with morgue mishap - LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan was late to her court-ordered community service at a morgue on Thursday, further jeopardizing her probation only one day after seeing it revoked for missing past appointments.
But a spokesman for the "Mean Girls" star blamed her tardiness, which caused officials to refuse Lohan entry into the facility, on media coverage and her own mistakes and said "everything is all cleared up."

The actress, 25, was on probation as part of her sentence for stealing a gold necklace from a jewelry store earlier this year. She had been ordered to perform 360 hours community service at a women's detention center and another 120 hours at the Los Angeles County Morgue, among other punishments.
But on Wednesday, a judge in the case was alarmed that Lohan missed several appointments at the women's center, so the judge revoked probation and ordered Lohan to start working at the morgue. A hearing to decide if Lohan violated probation and, as a result could go to jail, is set for November 2.
Lohan was expected to show up on time at 8 a.m. at the morgue on Thursday, but she arrived more than 40 minutes late and was refused entry, said coroner's Chief Craig Harvey.
Lohan's publicist, Steve Honig, said in a statement that the actress arrived 20 minutes late and will be returning to the morgue on Friday morning after Thursday's mishap.
"Her lateness was due to a combination of not knowing what entrance to go through and confusion caused by the media waiting for her arrival. Lindsay spoke with the supervisors at the morgue, they showed her how to get in and everything is all cleared up," wrote Honig.
The actress took to Twitter to issue an apology to the coroner's office on Thursday morning, adding "Won't happen again, now I know where to go!"
Thursday's events were yet another blow for the "Mean Girls" actress after her lawyer, Shawn Holley, told Judge Stephanie Sautner on Wednesday that Lohan would honor her commitments at the morgue, beginning Thursday.
Wednesday's hearing saw Lohan reprimanded by an angry Judge Sautner for having only completed a tiny fraction of her court-ordered community service and showing little regard for her commitments.
Lohan was ordered to complete 16 hours of work per week at the Los Angeles County Morgue over the next two weeks by Judge Sautner, prior to the actress' hearing on November 2.

Chen’s Chinese analogy sparks PAP debate
By Yahoo! Singapore | Yahoo! Newsroom – 15 hours ago
A debate on the relationship between the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) and the opposition Workers’ Party (WP) took centre stage in Parliament on Wednesday, with various references made to ancient Chinese history.
Three PAP MPs gave different takes on opposition MP Chen Show Mao’s analogy comparing the PAP to enlightened Tang Dynasty Emperor Tai Zong and the WP to Wei Zheng, a wise court official known for being frank with the ruler.
Speaking in Mandarin on Tuesday, Chen said in his speech, “In this term of Parliament, I hope the ruling party can be Tang Tai Zong, while we can be Wei Zheng. Let us create a peaceful, prosperous age.”
While lauding Chen’s refreshing style of debate, senior parliamentary secretary Sam Tan on Wednesday countered with a story of Wei Zheng, noting that the opposition MP should also not just parrot his party’s line, The Straits Times reported.
Tan said that when Emperor Tai Zong asked Wei Zheng about the difference between a good and bad king, the official replied that a wise ruler listens fairly to the views of all, while a poor ruler listens only to the biased views of a few.
He added, “Since Mr Chen aims to be like Wei Zheng, I hope that when his personal view differs from his party's, he will be able to look at the big picture and act in the interest of the majority instead of blindly following his party line.”
Tampines group representation constituency MP Baey Yam Keng, however, chose to focus on drawing lessons from Emperor Tai Zong’s good governance.
During the Zhenguan era, China was known for its prosperity and non-corrupt officials, said Baey. He added that the Emperor also understood that the relationship between ruler and his people is like the connection between a boat and water.
He mentioned the Chinese idiom “water can transport the boat but also cause it to sink” to underscore the importance of listening to the people.
On the other hand, Sembawang GRC MP Ellen Lee rejected Chen’s analogy, arguing that it was inappropriate to compare the PAP to Emperor Tai Zong as he was an autocratic ruler in a feudal era.
She said, “We live in a modern, democratic society and the PAP believes in being responsible to the people. In a democracy, anyone has the right to speak.”
“While the analogy sounds romantic, on closer examination, it does not hold water.”
The PAP MPs also suggested that providing alternative views and criticism does not solely lie in the opposition. Tan noted that some PAP backbenchers can be fiercer than the opposition when criticising the government.
Referring to Chen’s speech in which the WP MP quoted a Confucian saying that “gentlemen can be united while holding different views” to describe how the two parties could work together, Tan said this has been practised all along.
Saying that that the PAP is a broad church that accepts a variety of views and talents in its ranks, he cited Cabinet ministers Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Vivian Balakrishnan, who were active critics of the government before entering politics.
In addition, he added that the government’s move to allow Non-Constituency MPs and Nominated MPs also showed its commitment to gathering wide-range views.
Acknowledging that debate has been lively in the past two days but divided along party lines, Tan called for tolerance and unity of purpose from all parties. He referred to a couplet written by a Qing Dynasty official, he said, “Being in government is not about speaking many empty words, but about serving the masses.”

Lindsay Lohan misses morgue appointment
Lindsay Lohan misses morgue appointment - Lindsay Lohan is “sorry” for missing her court ordered community service appointment this morning.
Lindsay had her probation revoked yesterday by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner. Judge Sautner believed Lindsay was in violation of her probation due to the star’s poor attendance at a city women’s shelter, where she was frequently a no-show.
Judge Sautner pressed Lindsay to complete at least 16 hours of community service per week at the Los Angeles County Morgue before the star’s early November violation hearing.
Lindsay was to begin service at the morgue today at 7AM, but the actress was tardy.
“I'm sorry for the confusion that I may of caused to those at the Coroner's office. Won't happen again, now I know where to go! Thank you for your help. [sic]” Lindsay posted on Twitter today after being dismissed from the morgue by company officials for arriving 20 minutes late.
Lindsay faults her lateness to confusing entryways.
"Lindsay arrived at the morgue approximately 20 minutes late and will be returning for orientation tomorrow. Her lateness was due to a combination of not knowing what entrance to go through and confusion caused by the media waiting for her arrival. Lindsay spoke with the supervisors at the morgue, they showed her how to get in and everything is all cleared up," Lindsay’s publicist Steve Honig said in a statement.
The actress was detained in handcuffs and remanded to police custody after Wednesday’s hearing. A $100,000 bail was set for Lindsay’s release, which she posted later in the day.
Lindsay’s next probation violation court date with Judge Sautner will be held on November 2. During that hearing the judge will determine whether or not Lindsay will be sent to jail for a year.
Lindsay’s trouble stems from her no contest plea earlier this year in the case of a stolen $2,500 necklace from a Venice, California store.
